01Every SJA project begins with a conversation rather than a predetermined style. We listen for the ambitions behind the brief: how the client wants to live, what should feel different, and which memories or rituals should find a place in the new environment. From these conversations, a central design idea begins to emerge.
02That idea becomes a filter for every decision. It shapes the plan, proportions and movement before guiding material palettes, furniture and lighting. References are used to clarify atmosphere, not to copy a look. The intention is to create a spatial identity that belongs specifically to the project and its people.
03The atelier model keeps disciplines connected. Architecture and interiors are developed together; technical coordination begins while the creative language is still taking shape. This reduces the compromises that occur when structure, services, finishes and furniture are considered separately. A dedicated SJA lead protects the central idea as specialist collaborators join the process.
04Design then moves through drawings, samples, mock-ups and site observation. Materials are judged in real light. Junctions are studied at full scale. Furniture is tested against human comfort as well as visual proportion. The site is treated not as the end of design, but as the place where precision and craft bring it into physical form.
